Communion Policy
Visitors and the Sacrament of Holy Communion – We celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion every Sunday. As this heavenly food can be taken to one’s judgment (1 Cor. 11:28–30), and as the common reception of this food is a confession of doctrinal oneness (Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 11:26), our congregation practices closed communion. Visitors who are confirmed members of a sister LCMS congregation, and who regularly attend the Lord’s Supper at their home congregation, are asked to please announce to an usher or the pastor their intention to take the Sacrament before the worship service. If you are visiting us from a different church, we respectfully ask that you refrain from taking the Sacrament when you visit us at worship. You are encouraged to speak to the pastor after the worship service if you are interested in communing with us in the future. If we cannot offer you the Sacrament today, we are not judging your personal faith. We are simply recognizing the reality that there is not at this time doctrinal agreement between our respective church bodies. Please respect our position of love in this matter of pastoral care.
